Associate Professor of Law

Dr. Balwinder Kaur is an Associate Professor of Law at Dr. B.R. Ambedkar National Law University (DBRANLU), Sonepat, Haryana. She is currently serving as the Director of the Centre for Labour Studies, Director of the Centre for Performing Arts, Dean of Students’ Welfare (Girls), and Coordinator of the One-Year LL.M. Programme. Prior to joining DBRANLU in October 2023, she served as a faculty member (Assistant Professor) at Hidayatullah National Law University (HNLU), Raipur, from August 2009 to October 2023. With over sixteen years of teaching and research experience in legal education, she has made significant contributions to academic administration, curriculum development, research, and student mentoring.

Areas of Specialisation

Her areas of teaching and research include Labour Laws, Commercial Laws, Environmental Law and Energy Law.

Dr. Kulwant Singh Malik has been associated with Dr. B.R. Ambedkar National Law University, Sonipat since October 2023 as an Associate Professor (Law). Prior to this, he served as Assistant Professor (Law) at the Central University of Haryana, Mahendergarh, Haryana from January 2020 to October 2023 and also as Assistant Professor (Law) as well as Principal at C.R. Law College, Hisar, Haryana from August 2013 to January 2020.

Academic Qualifications

He completed his B.A. LL.B. from the Department of Law, Maharshi Dayanand University, Rohtak, followed by LL.M. and Ph.D. (Law) from C.D.L.U., Sirsa. In addition, he holds a Master’s degree in Public Administration from IGNOU, New Delhi and a Master’s degree in Sociology from Shobhit University, Meerut, through distance learning mode.

Research and Publications

Dr. Kulwant Singh Malik has actively participated in more than 40 international and national conferences, seminars and workshops, where he presented research papers on diverse themes. He has published 38 research papers in reputed international and national journals.

Areas of Specialisation

His areas of specialization include Commercial Laws, Constitutional Laws, Criminal Laws, and Land Laws, developed through his research, publications, and teaching engagements.

Offices Held at the University

At present, he is heading the Centre for Disaster Management & Laws as faculty coordinator, at the University, which organizes practical and research-oriented activities in the field of disaster management and allied laws. He is also performing the additional duties as Director, Publication Cell and Editor of The DBRANLU Law Review (Peer Reviewed and Refereed Research Journal).

Dr. Madhuker Sharma is an Associate Professor (Law) at Dr. B.R. Ambedkar National Law University, Sonepat with over 15 years of teaching experience. Prior to joining academics, he had served the Govt. of India in its accounting services for eight years. Associated with the University since 2023, Dr. Madhuker Sharma presently serves as Director, CCLRAS (Centre for Criminal Law Research & Advocacy Skills).

Areas of Specialisation

His areas of interest include criminal procedural law, juvenile justice law, legal research, & law related to right to information. He currently teaches criminal procedural law, & criminology in UG programme, and legal research, & criminology in PG programmes.

Empirical Research

Dr. Madhuker Sharma has vast experience of empirical legal research. He has completed seven research projects, funded by corpus of the universities, on various legal issues, like, juvenile delinquency, element of subjectivity in award of death sentence, crime victim compensation mechanism, non-bailable offences & over-crowded prisons, right to public resources of disabled persons, efficacy of wild-life protection laws, and working conditions at old-age homes.

One of the Project Reports was termed as Young Law Commission of India’s Report by Prof. (Dr.) Upendra Baxi in his foreword of the Report. One of the Reports was presented before the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India when the Hon’ble Court was hearing a petition challenging the constitutional validity of juvenile justice laws in 2014. Data presented in the Report was mentioned by the Hon’ble Supreme Court in its judgment as well.

Publications

He has authored books on law related to right to information, & juvenile delinquency, and has co-authored book on criminal procedural law. He has ten papers / chapters in edited books being published in his name by national & international publishers.

Dr. Puja Jaiswal is an Associate Professor-Law at Dr. B.R. Ambedkar National Law University, Sonepat with over 15 years of teaching and research experience. Prior to joining the university in the year 2023, she served at the Army Institute of Law, Mohali; The ICFAI University, Dehradun; Law College Dehradun (Now as Uttranchal University Dehradun); & as HOD at UILS, Chandigarh University, Mohali and has administrative experience with Women and Child Development Department, Govt. of Haryana. Dr Puja presently serves as the Director, Centre for Gender Justice and Human Rights (CGJHR) and Centre for Research in Commercial and Corporate Law (CRCCL).

Areas of Specialisation

Her areas of interest include Gender laws; Legal research and Taxation law. She teaches Law & Justice in the Globalised World, Corporation Taxation in PG programmes and Woman & Child Laws & Direct Taxation Law in UG programme alongwith Clinical papers of ADR and Moot.

Dr. Puja Jaiswal has made significant scholarly contributions through research publications in national & international journals of repute, Scopus journal and authored & edited books. She has actively participated in various international and national conferences, seminars and workshops, where she presented research papers on diverse themes.

Contribution of Academic Activities

An active contributor to the academic community, she serves as examiner with Public Service Commissions, several universities/institution and is reviewer to reputed national journals. Dr Puja has judged several moot court/mock trial competitions, has been resource person in workshops / seminars/ conferences and has delivered lectures in Faculty Development programmes. Dr Puja has successfully organized various para-academic activities/programs like national seminars, moot competitions, panel discussions, debate etc.

Dr. Sanjay Kumar is an Associate Professor (Law) at Dr. B.R. Ambedkar National Law University, Sonepat with over 19 years of teaching experience. He is associated with the University since 2023 and prior to joining this University, he had served as Professor at Lovely Professional University, Punjab; Dean, HoD & Professor at Jaganath University, (JIMS), Bahadurgarh; as HoD at Geeta University, Panipat; and as Faculty at H.P. College of Law, Kala-Amb (H.P.). Dr. Sanjay presently serves as Director, Centre for Constitutional Law & Transformative Studies (CCLTS) in the University.

He remained Registrar (Officiating) at the University from June, 2024 to 15 Jan. 2025. He has made significant contributions to academic administration, teaching & learning process.

Areas of Specialisation

Dr. Sanjay Kumar’s areas of interest include International Law, Constitutional Law, Criminal Law and Clinical Legal Education. He has played an instrumental role in establishing and strengthening legal aid initiatives, pro bono programmes in the University and has contributed meaningfully to the various community outreach programmes.

Research Initiatives

Dr Sanjay Kumar has presented research papers in numerous national and international conferences, seminars, and symposiums and has actively participated in Faculty Development Programmes, refresher courses, workshops, and academic training programmes. He is an experienced Ph.D. supervisor, currently guiding Ph.D. doctoral scholars and LL.M. dissertation at the universities. His academic mentoring extends to guiding research scholars in publications, dissertations, and advanced legal research.

Dr. Sunder Singh is an Associate Professor of Law and Head of Department (PG) at Dr. B.R. Ambedkar National Law University, Rai, Sonepat. With over 18 years of teaching and research experience in Family Law and Criminal Law, he has supervised several LL.M. dissertations and published more than 12 national and international papers. His teaching emphasizes case-based learning, critical engagement with evolving jurisprudence, and a commitment to bridging the gap between legal theory and practice.

Dr. Amit Guleria is an Assistant Professor at Dr. B.R. Ambedkar National Law University, Sonepat, with over 15 years of teaching, research and administrative experience. He is associated with the University since August 2020. He is the Founder Head of Department & Dean Students’ Welfare at DBRANLU, Sonepat.

He is the University Gold Medallist in LL.M. [Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla (Batch 2009)] and Jai Lala Nagal (Freedom Fighter) Memorial Silver Medal Awardee.

Dr. Divya is an Assistant Professor of Law at Dr. B.R. Ambedkar National Law University, Sonipat, where she joined in April 2026. Prior to joining the University, she served as an Assistant Professor of Law at National Law University, Jodhpur (NLUJ) for approximately two years.

Academic Qualifications

She holds a Ph.D. in Competition Law from National Law University Delhi, with her doctoral thesis titled “Big Data in Online Advertising Industry: A Competition Law Analysis.” She also holds an LL.M. in Business Laws from National Law University Delhi and is UGC-NET qualified.

Areas of Specialisation

Her teaching and research interests include Competition Law, Law & Technology, Artificial Intelligence and Law, Data and Privacy, Digital Markets, Copyright Law, and Jurisprudence. Her research focuses particularly on the intersection of competition law, data-driven markets, privacy, algorithms, and emerging technologies.

Professional Experience

Before entering academia, she gained professional experience with the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and the National Industrial Corridor Development Corporation (NICDC), Ministry of Commerce, working in legal and contract-related roles.

At Dr. B.R. Ambedkar National Law University, she also holds additional administrative responsibilities, including heading the IT Cell of the University, and serves as a member of the Anti-Ragging Squad.

International Programmes

She has been actively engaged in international academic programmes and legal capacity-building initiatives, including the NLUJ–ITEC Special Training Programmes, where she has delivered sessions on Competition Law, Child Rights and Jurisprudence and coordinated programmes for legal professionals from ITEC partner countries.

Academic Interests

Her academic interests also include de-colonial jurisprudence, ancient Indian jurisprudential thought, and innovative and student-centric approaches to legal education.

Dr. Sukhwinder Singh is an Assistant Professor of Law at Dr. B.R. Ambedkar National Law University, Sonipat, Haryana, and is presently serving as the Head of Department (UG). He joined the University on 13 August 2021. Prior to joining the University, he served as Associate Professor at Law College Dehradun, Uttaranchal University, and held teaching positions at Guru Nanak Dev University, IMS Unison University, and St. Soldier Law College. He possesses more than fourteen years of teaching experience in the field of law.

Dr. Singh is an alumnus of Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, where he obtained his LL.M. and Ph.D. in Law. He qualified the UGC-NET and the All India Bar Examination in his first attempts.

Areas of Specialisation and Academic Interest

His principal areas of academic interest include Contract Law, Criminal Law, and Legal Research Methodology.

Research, Publications and Academic Contributions

Dr. Singh has authored and published research papers in Scopus-indexed, UGC-CARE listed and other reputed journals. His recent research includes work on privacy and data protection in AI-powered legal services and AI governance in India. His publication record also covers environmental law, contract law, human rights, gender justice, child protection, water disputes, sustainable development and other emerging legal issues. He is also the author of the book “Interstate Water Dispute: Legal Case Study of Punjab State”.

He has presented research papers at numerous national and international seminars, conferences and academic forums. He has also undertaken research supervision, including LL.M. dissertations and undergraduate dissertations, and has been actively involved in academic research and legal scholarship.

Resource Person and Professional Engagements

Dr. Singh has served as a resource person and invited speaker for Haryana Police Academy and other universities and institutions across India. He has delivered expert lectures on subjects including the Juvenile Justice Act, POCSO related issues, women and child safety, human trafficking, privacy and data protection, and contemporary legal developments. He has also served as a resource person in Faculty Development Programmes and other professional training programmes and has contributed to legal awareness and academic outreach.
